6. My Country - Country music ballads with Orchestra
Hans Christian Andersen UGLY
Buckle up for a Duck’n’Roll experience
like NOTHING you’ve ever heard before:
Lush orchestra & face-melting guitar solos.
Pianos thunder. Vocals soar. It’s raw. It’s magic.
A fresh take on Hans Christian Andersen’s tales. A West End-level production blending pop music, ballet, and orchestral storytelling—a new category of show.
Imagine the concert as a star-lit journey through a world where the land meets the sea, dreams meet reality, and each song is a window into a different mythical tale. The concert moves through thematic chapters.
Like Sondheim's"Into the Woods", it unfolds in thematic chapters that carry the audience beneath the waves, into the hearts of adventurers, and across timeless landscapes of longing and courage.
The show UGLY based on HC Andersen’s personality, life and stories. Ugly Duckling, Snow Queen, Little matchstick girl, Fisherman & wife, The shadow and the little mermaid.. It features the songs like "UGLY - Look at Me," which explores the feeling of not being attractive, a theme that many teens including myself connected with and can carry through life. Originally written years ago, it’s now reimagined for a 70-piece orchestra. A key element of the show is the moon, which symbolises watching everything—your secrets, sorrow, and happiness. Andersen’s story about the moon seeing all but revealing nothing adds a poetic layer, reflecting today’s “big brother” society of social media, where we’re always being watched, but the true connection is lost.
The misunderstood genius rises—a rebel anthem for the unheard and the unbreakable.

"Beneath the Surface – little mermaid" is a cinematic pop ballad that dives deep into longing, love, and the price of freedom. Sung from the heart of a mermaid caught between two worlds, it blends lush storytelling orchestration with an unforgettable pasionate voice full of emotion and power. With subtle shifts in lighting, the stage transforms into the darker, mysterious depths as she contemplates a love from another world, adding an emotional layer to the concert.
Andersen often felt caught between two realms — between poverty and the elite, between his humble origins and the sophisticated circles he longed to join. Emotionally, he endured many unrequited loves, both for men and women, and felt like an outsider, yearning for connection but often sacrificing parts of himself to belong. The mermaid’s silent suffering, self-denial, and ultimate transformation into sea foam resonate deeply with Andersen’s personal sense of longing, rejection, and the search for transcendence through art.
-
"Veil of Illusions – emperor’s new clothes" is a flamboyant, razor-sharp glam opera—a musical masquerade of power, pride, and deception. that slips into ragtime-infused big-band jazz, bursting with Charleston swing, burlesque flair, and cabaret drama. A sharp-edged tale of pride, deception, and downfall, it parades from grandeur to absurdity in spectacular fashion. As the illusion unravels, truth struts onto the stage—bold, naked, and impossible to ignore.
-
"Go, Don’t Go – from The Snow Queen" is a powerful, emotionally charged ballad that weaves operatic vocals with cinematic intensity. Set in a shimmering winter world, the song captures a moment of inner conflict—temptation vs. resilience, fear vs. hope. With soaring melodies and a chilling duet between darkness and light, it’s a haunting reminder that every journey is shaped by the choices we make. Echoing through icy silence, this is the Snow Queen’s heart laid bare.
-
"Look at Me – Ugly Duckling" is a raw, soul-baring ballad about rejection, self-doubt, and the quiet strength it takes to dream beyond the pain. With heartbreaking honesty and tender vulnerability, it gives voice to the outsider—the one who’s never felt seen. But beneath the sorrow rises a powerful truth: the beauty within is real, burning, and undeniable. A deeply emotional piece that speaks to anyone who’s ever felt invisible… and longs to be truly seen.
-
"One Story, One Heart" is a soaring anthem of hope, unity, and transformation. From quiet reflection to triumphant crescendo, it traces a journey through darkness into light—where every struggle becomes part of something greater. With powerful vocals, cinematic orchestration, and a message that speaks across boundaries, this song reminds us that we are all connected: one story, one heart, one unstoppable flame.
